The main discussion topic was how the media pursue celebrities. This had the class divided. Some felt that as celebrities, this is what they sign up for. Others thought it still isn't fair. I'm split on this decision. I sort of believe that celebrities do bring a lot of the media coverage on themselves.
Most celebrities use it as a promotion tool when they need it, and then dare to lash out when they don't. I'm not sure what the guidelines are with journalists, but perhaps if they were more stringent, there could be an ideal balance. Celebrities are celebrities because they are idolised by their fan base. Their fa

Some celebs have in fact sued the papers and mags in the past for invasion of privacy, but then others let them pay mega money for exclusive snaps of their wedding or their new child. I believe that celebrities need publicity as much as the papers and magazines need celebrities. It is just clearly about balance.
The royal family in particular get hounded by the press but then some would argue that, we as a country need to know everything about our royal family. I'm not sure if Diana, Princess of Wales would have agreed with this...she was killed in the end by the media wanting their photos or story. Then there is Prince William...the media pressure split him and his girlfriend Kate Middleton up. The same can be said for Prince Harry and his girlfriend, Chelsea Davy...again,

I'm divided on this topic. Obviously it is sad when a story like Diana's happens. I personally don't go in for celebrity magazines or newspapers but I know a lot of people do.
What are your views????!

I agree that celebrities sometimes want the publicity, but I don’t think they should be hounded just because they’ve got talent. You can usually distinguish between the fame hungry celebs who want to be followed everywhere (e.g. big brother evictees!) and those who could do without the press (e.g. Britney!). As for the Royal family, they were born into it so it’s not really their fault, especial Will and Harry they probably just wanna go out with their mates without being stalked by the press, and have to read about what the ‘got up to’ the next day. But like you, I’m completely divided about this – when they’ve got a new album out they want the press to follow them, but when they’re caught doing drugs, they’re ‘being stalked’ – can’t have it both ways!
